
Maggie Guyotte was crowned as the 2025-26 Quitman High School Homecoming Queen at the Coronation Ceremony held on Friday, October 17th. The daughter of Paula and Brian Guyotte, who has committed to play softball at Louisiana Tech University, received her crown in front of a capacity crowd in the QHS gymnasium between the annual “Hall of Fame” girls and boys varsity basketball games.
Additional Homecoming Court members included: Annie Mobley, Taylor Williams, Raylee Caskey, Anna Claire Leach, Candence Pennington, Brenna Lamkin, Emma Kate Toms, Annalise Bougues, and Averi Hasley.

QHS sweeps Grant High in Hall of Fame Games
The Quitman High School varsity girls and boys basketball teams served notice they are ready for the beginning of the 2025-26 LHSAA basketball season as they both beat Class 4A Grant High School in the annual Hall of Fame game played on Friday, October 17th.
Quitman 44 Grant 41 (girls) – Trailing by nine points early in the fourth quarter, Quitman went on a 16-4 run to rally for the victory. Allie Robertson made four field goals to fuel the comeback, with Hallie Kate Pullig, Kinsley Ponder, and Anna Claire Leach also contributing points to help QHS overcome the lead that Class 4A Grant had taken. Leach and Robertson led Quitman in scoring with 17 and 16, respectively. Pullig finished with five, Ponder tallied three, Kalisia Hall made a basket, and Sophia Kleibert sank a free throw to round out the QHS offensive attack.
Quitman 77 Grant 32 (boys) – The Wolverines jumped out to a 23-5 first-quarter lead and never looked back in the easy victory. Brayden Martin and Brayden Smith led the offensive attack with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Abel Leach also had a big game with 12 points and a team-leading 9 rebounds. Other scoring contributors included Shane Reed with 7 points and both Asher Schultz and Larson Thomas, who scored 6 points each, while Jack Thomas drained a three-pointer and Kaleb Maxwell made a basket.
Quitman to play at Choudrant on Tuesday
The girls and boys varsity basketball teams will play their second of three pre-season warm-up contests this Tuesday, prior to the regular season, which is scheduled to start on November 4th, by making a short trip to play Choudrant High School. Tip-off for the girls’ contest is slated for 5:00 pm, with the boys’ game following.
